At 9:00 a.m. on September 23, the signing ceremony for the Kingtal Scholarship of Central South University was successfully held in Conference Room 506 of Building 31 at Central South University. Attending the ceremony were Zhang Guoshun, Chairman of Zhuzhou Kingtal Cemented Carbide Co., Ltd.; Wu Jianguo, rotating General Manager; Liu Jingzhong, Deputy Head of the R&D Department; Li Kun, Deputy Director of the Powder Metallurgy Research Institute; Gan Xueping, also a Deputy Director; Professor Zhang Li; Associate Professor Zhang Wei; Associate Professor Cheng Huichao; and Meng Shangru, Director of the Student Affairs Office. The signing ceremony was chaired by Deputy Director Gan Xueping.

Vice Dean Gan Xueping first introduced the attending leaders and guests, and then officially announced the start of the signing ceremony. Afterwards, all participants watched together a promotional video produced by Zhuzhou Kingtal Cemented Carbide Co., Ltd. Following the video screening, Vice Dean Li Kun delivered a welcoming speech. In his address, he first praised Zhuzhou Kingtal Cemented Carbide Co., Ltd. for its strong sense of social responsibility. It is reported that in recent years, Zhuzhou Kingtal Cemented Carbide Co., Ltd. has engaged in friendly exchanges and cooperation with the Powder Metallurgy Research Institute of Central South University in the area of talent development. To further advance university-enterprise collaboration, promote the integration of industry, academia, and research, and encourage graduate students at the Powder Metallurgy Institute to pursue their studies diligently and strive to make outstanding contributions to China’s powder metallurgy research, since 2020, Zhuzhou Kingtal Cemented Carbide Co., Ltd. has been donating RMB 60,000 annually to the Powder Metallurgy Institute of Central South University to establish the “Kingtal Scholarship.” The scholarship selects the top 10 current master’s and doctoral students from the Institute, awarding each recipient an annual scholarship of RMB 6,000. The scholarship program will run for a period of three years.
Subsequently, Vice Dean Gan Xueping and Mr. Zhang Guoshun, Chairman of Zhuzhou Kingtal Cemented Carbide Co., Ltd., jointly signed the “Donation Agreement,” and the two posed for a commemorative photo.

After the signing ceremony, Chairman Zhang Guoshun delivered a speech. He stated that Zhuzhou Kingtal Cemented Carbide Co., Ltd. has always remained true to its original aspiration and looked toward the future, seizing firmly the strategic opportunities presented by the global cemented carbide industry’s development and striving to realize its vision of becoming a leader in niche markets. As an alumnus of Class 2002 at Central South University, he expressed his delight at this new collaboration with the Institute of Powder Metallurgy and hoped that the Institute would continue to provide Zhuzhou Kingtal Cemented Carbide Co., Ltd. with a steady stream of talented individuals, thereby fostering even deeper cooperation with Central South University and contributing to the development of both the nation and the cemented carbide industry.
Finally, Zhuzhou Kingtal Cemented Carbide Co., Ltd. held a symposium and exchange with professors specializing in the field of cemented carbides. Professor Zhang Li stated that active interaction between enterprises and universities is a win-win situation for both sides, and they are very eager to help companies cultivate outstanding talents.
With this, the signing ceremony for the Kingtal Scholarship has come to a successful conclusion. We hope that the establishment of the Kingtal Scholarship will inspire graduate students at the Powder Metallurgy Institute to study diligently, strive for excellence, and make every effort to contribute to the field of powder metallurgy.
